Arka Gurukul Inaugurates Academic Session 2026–27 at NBIRT Arkaneer

Free Educational Initiative Continues to Empower Underprivileged Children Through Holistic Learning
The new academic session 2026–27 of Arka Gurukul, an educational initiative run by the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT), was inaugurated on 29th April 2026 at the conference hall of ARKANEER, Sekerkote, West Tripura. The programme marked another milestone in NBIRT’s continuous commitment towards social development and educational empowerment for children from underprivileged communities.
Arka Gurukul has been providing free education and coaching support to students from economically weaker families of Sekerkote and nearby areas, particularly for children studying from Class II to Class V. Alongside academic guidance, the initiative focuses on the overall development of children through value-based and activity-oriented learning.
The date of 29th April has been officially chosen as the annual commencement day for the academic session of Arka Gurukul, as it commemorates the birth anniversary of Hony. President of NBIRT, Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Gon Chaudhury.
The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Gon Chaudhury, eminent scientist and Hony. President of NBIRT. In his speech, he encouraged the younger generation to become responsible and compassionate human beings and urged them to follow the ideals and guidance of great personalities to establish themselves meaningfully in society.
Dr. Gon Chaudhury also elaborated on the vision and objectives of Arka Gurukul before the invitees and parents present at the event. He highlighted the institute’s efforts in delivering meaningful education through playful and engaging learning methods, alongside computer education, spoken English, painting, general knowledge activities, and educational tours. He further shared future plans aimed at strengthening and expanding the initiative.
The programme witnessed the participation of twenty students from different schools along with their parents. The event was also attended by Executive Members, activists, principals, and faculty members associated with NBIRT.
At the beginning of the programme, existing students of Arka Gurukul warmly welcomed the newly admitted students with flower bouquets and chocolates, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere. A cake-cutting ceremony formally marked the beginning of the new academic session. The students also presented a cultural group song as part of the celebrations.
During the same event, farewell greetings were extended to students who had successfully completed their journey at Arka Gurukul. Three students were honoured with certificates and mementos by NBIRT in recognition of their achievements. The programme reflected great enthusiasm and excitement among students and parents alike.
Established in 2004 at the Arkaneer complex with the support of educationists and well-wishers from across the state, Arka Gurukul has continued to serve as a meaningful platform for nurturing young minds. The initiative stands as a reflection of the vision, inspiration, and dedicated efforts of Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Gon Chaudhury towards inclusive education and social upliftment.
