Awareness Programme on Formation of Two CIGs – “Sugandhi” & “Shubhashini”

NBIRT Arkaneer hosts successful initiative to strengthen collective agricultural practices

An awareness programme on the formation of two Commodity Interest Groups (CIGs), “Sugandhi” and “Shubhashini,” was successfully organized at NBIRT Arkaneer on 12th February 2026. The initiative aimed to sensitize and guide beneficiaries about the structure, objectives, and functional framework of the proposed CIGs.

The event was graced by four esteemed officials from the Agricultural Subdivision, who attended as Hon’ble Guests and resource persons:

  • Dr. Debabrata Paul, S.A., Dukli Agri. Sub-division

  • Dr. Mandakranta Chakraborty, A.S.O., Sekerkote

  • Sri Wasim Akram Seikh, A.S.O., Badharghat

  • Smt. Bhargabi Chakraborty, B.T.M., Dukli Agri. Sub-Division

Officials from NBIRT also played a key role in the programme:

  • Sri Mohit Lal Acharjee, Hony. Treasurer, NBIRT

  • Sri Anup Dey, Project Officer, NBIRT

  • Smt. Debasmita Ganguly, Research Scholar, NBIRT

Their presence enriched the session with valuable insights and practical guidance.

Key Highlights of the Programme

  • Detailed discussions on cultivation, production, value addition, and marketing of medicinal plants.

  • Guidance on organizing agricultural development events and group-based initiatives.

  • Emphasis on awareness programmes, training sessions, and community services such as vehicle rentals.

  • Interactive sessions where beneficiaries clarified doubts regarding group formation, objectives, and operational processes.

  • Encouragement for participants to take ownership and actively contribute to the success of the CIGs.

Outcome

The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from beneficiaries. The visit of Agricultural Subdivision officials added credibility and direction to the initiative. The formation of “Sugandhi” and “Shubhashini” is expected to strengthen collective farming practices, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance socio-economic development among members.

The event ended with a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests for their valuable time, guidance, and support.
