Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp Empowering Local Youth and Women in Tripura


Organized by NBIRT and Sponsored by SIDBI, the Event Focused on Promoting Entrepreneurship Skills and Government Schemes for Rural Development
Sekerkote, Tripura – June 4, 2025 – An Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills among local youth and women was successfully held at the MEPP Office Complex in Madhyermura, Sekerkote, Sepahijala District, Tripura. The event, sponsored by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and implemented by NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT), saw an impressive participation of 54 individuals, with 49 females and 5 males, highlighting the strong engagement of women in entrepreneurship.
The programme brought together several key figures in the field of entrepreneurship development. Mr. Raj Skhar Hansda, Manager of SIDBI, addressed the participants, sharing valuable insights into SIDBI’s role in providing financial support and developmental services to budding entrepreneurs. Mr. Banti Chakraborty, Field Officer at the District Industries Centre (DIC) in Sepahijala, presented information on government schemes and local entrepreneurial opportunities. Er. P. L. Ghosh, Technical Advisor at NBIRT, discussed the significance of skill development and technology in the process of entrepreneurship, while Mr. Anup Dey, Project Officer at NBIRT, focused on the importance of systematic planning in enterprise creation.
The camp covered three major topics:
The concept of entrepreneurship and the role of an entrepreneur.
Enterprise planning and creation.
Government schemes, incentives, and subsidies available to support new ventures.
The event was also supported by key officials from NBIRT, including Mr. Nandan Chakraborty, Mr. Arun Acharjee, and Miss Payel Debnath, Project Executives of the MEPP initiative, who ensured the smooth facilitation of the camp and helped in engaging with the participants.
The Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp successfully introduced the fundamentals of entrepreneurship to the local community and helped raise awareness of the resources available to assist in launching new businesses. This initiative is part of a larger effort to encourage sustainable rural development through entrepreneurship, especially among women in Tripura.
