Skill Development Training Programme on Pastry Cake Making

Empowering Women Through Self-Reliance – An Initiative of ARKANEER

The NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) inaugurated a Self-Financed Skill Development Training Programme on Pastry Cake Making on 14th February 2026 at NBIRT Arkaneer, Sekerkote, West Tripura. The initiative, fully sponsored by the organizing authority, is designed to promote women’s self-reliance by equipping them with practical skills to start home-based enterprises and generate sustainable income.

The training, led by Master Trainer Smt. Debasree Das, will continue until 21st February 2026, following an extension requested by enthusiastic participants. Women from both rural and urban areas are receiving hands-on guidance in pastry and cake making, aligning their skills with emerging industry demands.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Chitra Pal, Former Principal of Ramthakur Degree College, as Chief Guest, and Smt. Nivedita Roy Kar, Cluster Coordinator, TRLM under Dukli RD Block, as Special Guest. Other distinguished attendees included Sri Mohit Lal Acharyee, Sr. Executive Member, NBIRT; Er. P. L. Ghosh, Technical Adviser, Arkaneer; Sri Anup Dey, Project Officer, NBIRT; and officials of Arkaneer.

Symbolizing growth and new beginnings, the dignitaries inaugurated the programme by watering a plant. In their addresses, speakers emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and active participation in income-generating activities, highlighting the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and cluster-based initiatives in strengthening rural livelihoods.

This initiative has been widely appreciated as a milestone in fostering entrepreneurship among women, enhancing their capacity to contribute meaningfully to their families and society.
